Breastfeeding Educator and Support

Cassandra Burrell attributes her job as a devoted wife and mother of three as her reason for working as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor. A graduate of Hampton University School of Nursing and a La Leche League International certified-breastfeeding peer counselor and program administrator, Cassandra provides in-home consultation for breastfeeding mothers and families. Cassandra currently coordinates a monthly support group in the Washington, DC metro area, Metro Breastfeeding Village, which provides on-going support, education and empowerment to the breastfeeding mother.

Educating the community about the importance of breastfeeding is key to ensuing the best start for a child’s future. Her work with Birthing Hands, the Healthy Babies Project, Mocha Moms, and the Family Health and Birth Center has given Cassandra a platform to encourage young mothers to give their children Nature’s best…breastmilk.

She joins the Birthing Hands team as a breastfeeding class instructor and one of our highly skilled breastfeeding counselors.
