Each Birthing Hands doula and midwife birth assistant joins our team not only with seasoned and expert skill, but also as women committed to ensuring that expectant mothers experience a safe and satisfying journey toward the birth of their babies.
The doulas who are members of the Birthing Hands team are certified by a nationally recognized organization as birth doulas with vast experience and skills. Many have advanced training in midwifery, breastfeeding, massage, acupressure, perinatal education, and other birth related specialties.
Birthing Hands President and Founder, Claudia Booker is a DONA-certified Birth Doula, an International Center for Traditional Childbirth (ICTC)-certified Full Circle Doula, and an experienced midwife birth assistant, with extensive training beyond her DONA and ICTC certifications.
Annually, she attends classes led by Ina May Gaskin and the midwives at The Farm to advance her skills as a midwife assistant and midwifery student.
For the past four years, Claudia has served the women of the Washington metropolitan area as a birth doula in hospital, birth center, and home birth settings and as a midwife birth assistant in birth center and home birth settings for more than 150 births. In addition to serving as a birth doula, she currently serves as a midwife birth assistant with Birth Care and is available to serve as a midwife birth assistant with other local midwives.
